Melissa Lardo Stewart joined O&G in November 2013 after completing clerkships with the Honorable James Orenstein in the Eastern District of New York and the Honorable Dickinson R. Debevoise in the District of New Jersey, and then working for two years as an associate at Woodley & McGillivary, where she litigated multi-plaintiff class and collective actions against private and public sector employers in federal court, and represented labor unions in a wide range of labor-management relations matters, including grievance arbitrations, unfair labor practices, administrative appeals, and negotiation of labor agreements.

Melissa received her B.A. magna cum laude in Comparative Literature and Hispanic Studies from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006 and her J.D. magna cum laude from Fordham University School of Law in 2009. At Fordham Melissa earned the Hugh R. Jones Award in Law & Public Policy and served as the President of the Stein Scholars Program for Public Interest Law & Ethics in her third year. During law school Melissa was selected for the AFL-CIO's Law Student Union Summer program, and worked for the Communications Workers of America and Make the Road New York. She also provided technical legal assistance to a worker-owned cooperative as a student attorney in Fordham’s Community Economic Development Clinic.

Melissa is a member of the American Bar Association, Labor & Employment Section. She is admitted to practice in New York State, the District of Columbia, and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Melissa currently serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Stein Scholars Program.
